For the average person, losing weight is easy as long as you have the dedication to monitoring your diet and increasing your level of exercise. The toughest part of weight loss is the commitment and dedication that it takes to make those necessary lifestyle changes. Once a lifestyle routine is established, it can be very challenging to separate yourself from that routine in order to start a new one. Therefore, gradual steps and careful lifestyle integration are vital to ensuring that you are able to build and maintain a healthy lifestyle.  

If your primary goal is to slim down, then you need to incorporate simple measures that will help you to intake less calories than you outtake each day. It might be helpful to take your body image out of the equation and to think only about mathematics; as long as you are able to limit your calories to a certain intake level and are able to burn a certain level of calories, the average person will lose weight somewhat effortlessly.  

With monitored calorie intake, it should take only about 30 minutes of exercise each day to help reshape your body. Of course, if you want to lose weight rapidly, you will want to exercise longer, but 30 minutes is enough to help you lose a steady, sustainable amount of weight. Here are some 30-minute activities that can get you going out and slimming down: 

Speed walk – walk as quickly as you can. Speed walking with help to get your heart up, but you’ll be burning calories and fat at a level that will be sustained for the rest of the day.  

Take a jog – jogging is one of the fastest ways to burn calories.  

Play a sport – pick up a racket, toss around a ball or jump in the pool for 30 minutes of continued movement and exercise. 

Ride a bike – bike riding targets your leg muscles and will help to tone them down. Because the leg muscles are some of the largest in the body, if they are in shape, they will burn fat and calories more efficiently. 

Ski – if you live in a snowy area, take to the cross-country skis for 30 minutes of strenuous gliding.  

Gym – the gym has just about every machine and program that you could ask for. Just 30 minutes a day on one any cardiovascular machine can help to burn calories and build muscle. 

Yoga and Pilates – Yoga and Pilates are gentle forms of exercise that help to build your muscles and increase circulation in your body. 30 minutes of each can help to create a strong core for your body.  

Roller blade – roller blading works your upper legs and glutes. 30 minutes a day can help you to because strong in these important areas.  

Vary these activities so that you do not become bored with the daily repetition. The key is to ensure that you make an effort to get active for at least 30 minutes each day. You will know you are appropriately active when your heart rate is up and you can feel yourself breathing harder than usual. Good luck!
